About the Project
Kiss the Ground is a documentary film about the role of soil as a climate solution. Using regenerative agriculture, soils can capture the carbon dioxide humans have pumped into the atmosphere, reversing our planet’s climate crisis.
The film aims to bring hope to this issue that can often feel overwhelming, featuring farmers, celebrities, political leaders, scientists and other activists. But, you don’t have to be a farmer or scientist to understand this solution—it’s all about protecting the soil health so that it can grow good food and sequester carbon.
Kiss the Ground is the story of a powerful solution to one of humanity’s greatest challenges.
Social & Environmental Impacts
Behind oceans, soils are our planet’s biggest carbon sink. But, under current industrial agriculture that harms the soil with toxic pesticides, fertilizers and devastating tillage, Earth’s soils are actually a major source of the atmospheric carbon that creates a greenhouse effect and warms our planet. How do we get that carbon back underground where it belongs? Regenerative agriculture—protecting soils, that is!
Plants use photosynthesis to convert carbon dioxide into food. They use carbon to build their cells as they grow, and they release it underground through their roots to attract and feed diverse soil life that support nutritious crop production. When farmers are empowered to care for their soils in this way, they can be a major part of the climate solution.
